This book felt predictable for me, but the plot was still enjoyable. The characters were hard to like overall, or I think I would’ve rated it higher. I would try another book by this author!

This book combines two of my favorite things: murder mysteries & Christmastime. Davids does a great job of setting a good scene for lots of secrets and lies. This book is sold as a reunion of family members 10 tens after an "incident" but it is a whole lot more!

There are so many different levels to the plot and each little piece is unraveled slowly, allowing the reader to discover not just what the incident was, but also other sad and uncomfortable moments that add to each character's motivation.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and I can't wait to read more from this author.

“I want to make sure this will be a Christmas party that none of our guests will ever forget”

The Christmas Party is a murder mystery suspense thriller that is told from the perspective of multiple characters, there are six different characters that have their own chapters, and each one holds a secret that they don’t want to come clean about, and throughout the book you just want the family to be honest with each other, and you want to discover who died, why and how, and unfortunately you don’t reach the same prologue until about two thirds of the book in, so there is a lot of action and build up to lead to that point which really helps with the plot and character development, the book isn’t just focused on the murder side of the genre.

The book does also flick between time settings, starting at the party then rewinding back three weeks prior to the party, and also ten years prior to witness the initial fallout between the Bailey sisters. I found this format great, and I was really engrossed throughout the entire book, despite being sent in every which way regarding the identity of the deceased, and the way that their death came about. The way that the book flicks between time and character perspective really helps with the depth and suspense of the book, and keeping the reader engaged.

I don’t really have a favourite character to be honest as I felt they are all pretty shady with their own problems that a little bit of honesty and communication would easily fix, but my least favourite has to be Erin, I just felt she was completely superficial, she was quite manipulative and despicable throughout the entire book, and her ending really irritated me, but has also left me eager for the sequel when it drops. This is a book that will make you think, but will also make you mad, at some of the characters behaviours and the finger pointing: that annoyed me, but nothing quite like a party for a family reunion, although to be fair this is one Christmas party I was glad to not attend!

Wow!  So much deceit and drama!  I was truly engrossed in this book.  There is so much family drama and secrets, I was truly blindsided.  The story flows at a steady and fast pace, I couldn't put it down.  The ending left me very confused and I can't wait to see where this story goes.  Overall a great book that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
