I thought it was great following the story of a young woman with a terrible childhood growing up but thought it dragged out more than necessary and some of Tully's actions made me not like her. Also didn't like that Robin had stayed with her for so long without saying anything about the bigger problems when most people would have already said something to their spouse about their behaviour and the bigger problems or had given up and left before 11 years had gone by. Thought it was a good story despite all of that.

Tully was my first experience of reading anything by Paullina Simons. It affected me deeply and I have read it over and over again. A wonderful book, extremely honest, with searing emotions.

the story of Tully, a young woman who struggles to make real friendships due to a difficult childhood, and the suicide of her best friend which affects the rest of her life. Wonderful to read, I couldn't put it down at times, but I did struggle to relate to Tully.

For its time, I can see why this book was in the top 100, but for me it lacked a certain hook

i have loved this book for so long. it is my favorite book. i read this book far too young the first time and it has stuck with me for over a decade because tully felt so real. so authentic. so honest in the ways people so often won’t be, which might feel like a weird thing to say after reading tully’s story. it is long and sprawls and takes it’s time like the kansas prairies. i feel like tully is an old friend of mine who i turn to when things are beyond hard. it is the most heartbreaking and real thing i’ve ever read. thank you paullina

I can't finish this book. I have tried and tried, but it's so awful I give up. None of the characters have any redeeming qualities. The synopsis of the book talks about how once you're friends with Tully, you're friends for life because she's loyal or some crap. (SPOILER) she constantly cheats on Robin her boyfriend with (surprise surprise) her professor who both happen to adore her regardless of how irritating or inconsiderate she is. The writing is repetitive and boring, and the characters are so one-dimensional. I tried to keep reading, thinking she must be deeper, that she would have trust issues because of her abusive mother but I gave up. In my opinion, don't waste your time.
