Not only is the main narrator the most unlikable character I have ever had the displeasure of reading, the writing itself is awful. The plot meanders aimlessly and jumps around. There are no interesting concepts as everything is very suface level and it is very poorly executed.

The best thing to come out of this is that the illegal online version of this book I was reading would sometimes glitch out meaning I got to skip parts of the book.

In summary I feel like this book is about a man getting hurt once, choosing to hurt everybody else afterwards and getting off on it even though the reason he got “hurt” the first time was his own fault, and then getting a little taste of his own medicine too. I had a lot of “wtf” moments and a few laughs due to dark humor. Being only 151 pages it’s a super quick read that kept me interested until the end because I wanted to understand the point and know what would happen.

Personally I get drawn into stuff like this because I’m always curious to understand the minds of fucked up people. On the flip side I feel like the more I try to understand troubled characters the more conflicted I feel.

The #1 complaint I see in other reviews is how “horrible the narrator is” I mean yeah… He’s an addict who is also giving sadistic psychopathic narcissist who needs to seek serious help. Why we are giving a book a shitty rating because the MC is shitty is crazy to me because sometimes that’s the literal point of the book. You don’t have to like him and maybe it’s not your thing but the book itself is good. It’s a “diary” of a mad man essentially.

This book is quite literally one of the most difficult books to get through. The actual writing is awful and there really no point to the story. The main character and author I’m assuming is whiny and annoying throughout the whole book. Honestly almost DNF the writing was so bad. The main character when on many tangents about unimportant information that doesn’t help progress the story.

Narrator is an asshole. The final revenge sequence is overly cartoonish and not nearly satisfying enough. Book is short and interesting enough that I don't regret giving it a shot, but certainly couldn't be bothered to ever read it again

Yes, it is just the rambling internal monologue of an insanely misogynistic, narcissistic and manipulative MC, but I enjoy reading fucked up POVs, so my rating is not because I enjoy the way this massive shit stain thinks, it’s only because I find it terrifying and fascinating in a morbid way that some people, men in particular, think and act this way.

It was really disturbing of how a person would think of hurting girls like that. As Jack Edwards said “it wants to be like Lolita so bad”. It fails to explore the women in another way other than them being commodities.

Read this book if you want to hear a privileged white man whine and complain about his super successful life while also hating women a lot and wishing actual violence and pain on them and also being an alcoholic! He also is extremely hypocritical, getting angry at women for playing him when he has done that multiple times and worse to women. Aww waa waa a girl screwed you over boo hoo :( . The fact that it is supposedly an autobiography (which I am not sure I believe) makes me a bit ill, because I am also currently reading Men Who Hate Women by Laura Bates, so I know that even if this book is fictional, men who behave and think exactly like this really do exist in the modern world (which is terrifying). And this book isn't even misogynistic in a social commentary way, just in a "this guy sucks so bad" kind of way. But yeah I can agree that this guy has been wasting oxygen his whole life! Overall, I regret reading it, even though it was kind of enjoyable at some points in a Nihilistic way.
Read from the Provo library.

Main character is trash. All he does is complain and tell you a rambling story about how he got his comeuppance. I think we are supposed to feel bad for him but truly the only delight in this book is when he is truly suffering. He is a bad person who needs therapy.
