this book did what i needed it to do! it got me out of a reading slump and was a much needed and welcome escape from real life. i've recently started getting back into fantasy romance which i loved as a teen but hadn't really revisited as an adult and this was an intersting take on the genre - the fantasy aspect being sort of like an avenue to facilitate the romance as opposed it being like a high fantasy world where there are romantic relationships. it didn't do any of the werewolf/fantasy things that i really dislike - like the male lead being controlling and not really listening to the desires/wants of the female lead. i was really excited about the duel point of views initially cause it's something i love in romances and wish people did more but i feel like both the characters were kind of flat/ one dimensional? and i wonder if part of that is because of the duel pov's and if there had only been one maybe we would have been able to get to know them more/in deeper ways. overall i enjoyed it! thought it was a nice, light romance and the spicy scenes were good. the characters were likable but i don't feel deeply attached or connected to them or their relationship honestly. it was pleasant and enjoyable but for me wasn't like an all encompassing read the way i know romances can be for me at times. def intersted in checking out more of her work (heard good things from my sister about the nanny and am intersted in what looks like it might be another fantasy romance she has forthcoming)
