This book was not at all how I imagined it. Much more epic and interesting than at first suspected. It was funny but also emotional and had a great story arc. The compilation format really worked even though it was as big as a small phone book. A bit lord of the rings, a bit Harry Potter, and lovely illustrations. I wish though it had all the color covers of the individual books. I guess I could have read those and seriously inflated the number of books I've read this year. I thought the end was a bit ex machina because I didn't quite understand how what they did did what it did, sort of anime-syndrome. I'd love a sequel that shows Boneville, I'm very curious about that place.

Read it with my son as a bedtime story and we both got really into it. First time i really looked forward to the story as much as he did

Real good, but not as great as the hype, IMO

I have never in my life read a more perfectly crafted graphic novel. The time and effort Jeff Smith took to self publish a whole story over the course of 10+ years is a really incredible level of commitment. The characters are all charming and it manages to both be a sweeping epic and a goofy Saturday morning cartoon at the same exact time.

This may have just become one of my favourite ever books. Think Disney meets Tolkein - not "Disney does Tolkein", rather "Tolkein does Disney". I hope they don't screw up the film...

It's hard to describe how well this book combines the slapstick cartoony style of an old Disney comic with the big fantasy epic that unfolds around these goofy Bone cousins... but well, that's what it does.

When I started, I didn't think I was going to get into it, but then the stupid rat creatures showed up, and then the dragon, and then Thorn, and then Gran'ma... It grows on you pretty quick. I've been trying to find another graphic novel as heartwarming, epic, funny, and well-written as Bone, but nothing I've found so far comes even close.

I loved the hell out of this. Towering adventure. I would die for these bones.
