Really good! A fantastic story and interesting characters. Also, the author isn't afraid to write about things not many writers delve into, in very clever and, for the lack of a better word, deep ways. Too bad I continued reading.

Maybe a few too many characters to keep track of (I did have to flick back a couple of times) but a good start to a continuing series. As detective thrillers go, decent characters with enough to explore in future books and a couple of more interesting twists than I was expecting. You’ll never really get Tolstoy prose in this genre but it stands up well within psychological crime fiction for me

I have had this on my kindle shelf for so long and I don’t know why I haven’t picked it up sooner! I decided to read it in the hope that changing back from fantasy to thriller will help me out of my reading slump and I really think it did!

This book follows lots of very gruesome murders and two detectives who are outcasts from their team for reasons you find out as you progress through the book. Though a lot of the book isn’t through their POV which I LOVE! It is told from a mix of the victims view, the view of Parker and the View of Abbey while of course at a few occasions through the view of the detectives themselves.

It is fast paced and gripping and there are a few twists that you may see coming and a few you won’t! All in all I loved this book so much and am so glad I finally gave in and read it.

You think you know who to trust? You think you know the difference between good and evil? You’re wrong...

The body of the head teacher of an exclusive Devon school is found hanging from the rafters in the assembly hall.

Hours earlier he’d received a package, and only he could understand the silent message it conveyed. It meant the end.

As Exeter suffers a rising count of gruesome deaths, troubled DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles must solve the case and make their city safe again.

But as they’re drawn into a network of corruption, lies and exploitation, every step brings them closer to grim secrets hidden at the heart of their community.

And once they learn what’s motivating this killer, will they truly want to stop him?

Overall, I enjoyed this book, there were very descriptive murder scenes, but they weren't too often. Perhaps because I read a lot of this type of book/story and I didn't find anything new or surprising.
I found some of the characters a bit cliched and there were a few times that character appeared out of thin air only because they brought something to the story.

I always like a story that switches between past and present, I find it helps build the tension as the book concludes and helps explain why the story develops the way it does. I like the plot and how the way most of the characters developed, but some parts let it down and I ended up feeling a bit disappointed by the ending.

This definitely has to be the best book out of the bunch my 2016 self picked out from a book fair. The writing was very easy and fun to read and I enjoyed the story of some characters. I thought the detectives were gonna end up together by the end of the book but glad they didn't. It was fun.

I did not finish this book but I am finished trying. Lots of chances for plot development missed and not taken. There is nothing gripping or compelling about anything I have read so far. I only read as far as I did because it was the only book I had on the train. This is a scorer.

Big big big 4.5 stars. I have one question though.. Did they ever find Christian’s body or is he still in that statue thing in the museum?

I fell for the marketing I admit it. I saw "Not for the faint hearted" and took it as a personal challenge.

The storyline is less about a serial killer as expected and is instead a pretty standard police procedural. It's written in POV which i usually really like but this was infuriating, the view point would change from one sentence to the next with no rhyme of reason. Plus there's at least 4 too many view points.

The killer becomes glaringly obvious about half way, and after that it was a slog till the end. Having seen good reads apparently Imogen is supposed to be the main character? I wouldn't have won that guess.

Overall disappointing.
