this is easily one of the greatest things i’ve ever read. it’s my first time reading a work of dostoyevsky, and i was surprised by how easy it was to comprehend- aside from a lot of vocabulary i needed to look up. i need more. i want these words to consume me. i want them pumping through my veins. the underground man both horrified me and yet was relatable. he is the part of our souls we don’t wish to acknowledge. i am going to miss him i think.

Nate D says it all really, am glad to have got to No 8! This book is depressing, infuriating, insightful and occasionally very funny although I’m not sure I’d have laughed out loud if it wasn’t for George Guidall’s sublime narration who somehow interpreted everything so perfectly. It was like living inside that misanthrope’s head and you wouldn’t necessarily want to do that on your own.

Oh yeah I’m going to be bringing up this book and misquoting it at parties for months to come.
Jokes aside, I loved it (who’s surprised?). Horrid, pathetic, misanthropic, insecure, spiteful, insignificant, deluded underground man I kind of get you. I don’t like you. The most insecure, cruel parts of myself I find in common with you.
“You talk nonsense and you are pleased with it… You may, perhaps, have really suffered, but you have no respect for your own suffering”

Al principio me pareció pesada, pero cuando entra a la segunda parte fue mejorando y mejorando a mi parecer. Al final, me pareció una novela increíble. Destaco los diálogos del narrador con Lisa, que son profundos y magistrales.
