Delusion in Death

J.D. Robb

4.16 AVERAGE

I adore JD Robb and her Eve Dallas series, it has to be one of my favorite and I anticipate it eagerly every time there’s a new one. Of course, that also means that I devour it so quickly that all I’m left to do is just re-read all the others that I love. Delusion in Death was another great story. A little gruesome, a lot of death this time, but Dallas and her team do an amazing job of breaking it down and finding the truth. I also adored the personal relationship growth. Dallas has had a lot weighing on her since New York to Dallas and she had a lot to overcome and deal with. Having such a strong partner in Roarke helps her to battle the streets of New York and the demons from her past. I also love the fact that she’s got a little crush on Mr. Mira.

Nothing exciting to write about. The case is a somewhat unrealistic to me but since this series is set in the future anything is possible. The first umpteen books of this series dealt with Eve and her memories of her father. Then a lovely break where Eve has to deal with normalcy, social interactions and marriage. But now we are back to troubled Eve except this time with her memories of her mother. it feels like she is taking the characters backwards instead of forwards. And only 2 sex scenes this time instead of the predictable 3.

Love this whole series!

The newest book in the Eve Dallas series by J.D. Robb started off with a bang, but quickly became less interesting. Would have preferred more in depth experience with victims' delusions. The mystery solving is similar to previous novels, with an anti-climactic twist near the end. Eve and Roarke's relationship continues to grow and mature, staying satisfying in this addition.

I love this series! I read this book in one sitting! I could not, would not put it down. Not only was it a great mystery but I enjoyed the fact that after all the new love stories I’ve read recently I could read a story with the deep true married love that Roarke & Eve share.

You know it is bad when the opening murder scene, an upscale bar, has over 80 bodies. Lt. Eve Dallas speaks for the dead. She is going to need help on this one. The thing is it wasn’t like some guy came in with a gun or bomb this was way scarier. Someone let loose a chemical cocktail in a happy hour crowd that turned the patrons on one another fatally and fast. Eve and her team need to find out who and what before it happens again.

A lot of the events from New York to Dallas are recalled in Delusions in Death which in a way highlights a few of its lackings.

Delusions is old school Dallas and while much fun is had throughout all the ass kicking, the frequent mentions of the storyline in NYtoDallas makes me want something a little deeper.

I loved it - and twist at the end. I would have never guessed it.

Once again, staying up way past my bedtime was the effect this book had. It was one of the ones were you track the known killer with Dallas from relatively early on and the twist at the end was one I didn't see coming. Which of course is always a wonderful thing. Already looking forward to the next one.

Another amazing book in this wonderful In Death series. I can't get enough of Eve, Roarke, and the crew.

This was a pretty good case. I had a slight suspicion about who the bad guy was, but then I thought maybe I was wrong at some point. Turns out, I was right. I really love how these cases are pieced together. Some are easy to figure out, and some are harder but it's never the same. Which is great considering, this is book #35 and that's not including the 0.5's.

I will never get enough of Eve and Mira's relationship. That woman is such a mother figure in her life and Eve deserves her. They both do. The care and love Mira shows her always gets a tear in my eye because we all want a mother like that in our lives. And some of us aren't always so lucky to get that.

I also had a teary moment when Eve finally told Peabody about what happened in Dallas. The friendship and bond these two have is just beautiful.

Round 2---Yeah I really just wish something would happen on a personal level with these characters. This is where I started to not really want to read these anymore

This book was better than the last few, but I was not satisfied with how the suspect was culled out. Essentially Eve just blurts it out and then realizes she has a feeling about it. Other than that everything was pretty on par.

I wouldn't start with this book, but if you like the series then a good edition.
