Love a themed poetry collection! I really enjoyed how the author pulled heavily from her farming experiences growing up, using metaphors of farming for environmentalism, sex, and growing up. Specifically, I loved the lines descrining a circle of girls braiding each other's hair as a "sunburned rat king" and how a rabbit was shot over and over again but wouldnt die (because the shots were from cameras)
Beautiful, emotive (and sometimes necesarily gross) work

Enjoyed this poetry collection, meanders between gross, startling and nostalgically beautiful. The sense of place is spectacular

Whimpering fat
melts to breathless squeal. The grill huffs,
fogs my glasses like hot breath.
- The flexitarian
It turned out celebrating hedonism was
quite boring actually. The display
of everyone's subversiveness
in uniform corsetry.
- Denying that it was a phase (was a definite indicator that it was a phase)
This was an interesting collection of poetry which touched on things like sexuality and the way we interact with one lovers.
My reason for not giving this a higher rating is that, in general, I was not particularly captivated by how Rebecca Hawkes used language. However, I found that the second part was effective, more so than the first.

Good writing and I think worth the love but it's not a collection I enjoyed much of. Hope she publishes another collection-- would read.
