Ring Shout takes the horror of the Ku Klux Klan mixed with Lovecraftian monsters and creates a beautiful horror novella that is well-paced, interesting, and with a great theme of "vengeance and rage does not justice make." This book packs a lot into a short amount of time, but it never feels rushed or overcrowded.

I think this is a great book if you love horror/gory books. For me it was just okay, but honestly I think the onyl reason why I think it's just okay is because horror is not my typical genre. It gave me everthing it told me it was gonna give me, and P. Djèlí Clark is a fantastic author. This book was just simply not for me, but it was still enjoyable.

the violence and gore that came with the book is chilling and gave me goosebumps but it also important to the plot of the story and the choices the characters make as well. i fell in love with the characters, fell in love with the writing but also need to research more and learn more as this book provoked me on wanting to expand more on learning.

Part horror, part historical fantasy, this story is set in an alternate timeline where KKK members turn into actual monsters and our MC hunts them. She discovers even bigger monsters at play. I enjoyed the story and the concept, because behavior creating monster is always something I find cool. As always with Clark’s novellas, I’d love a full novel of this.

I can’t believe how much detail and world building was squeezed into less than 200 pages. The pacing was perfect, never too slow or too rushed. You care about the protagonists and the antagonists are truly awful (but complex). The writing is descriptive and beautiful without being over verbose. This is one of the most efficiently written books I’ve ever read.
