The good news. Kinsey is an independent soul. The bad news. Kinsey is an independent soul. Wow. She is fearful of pain and death, but she wants to catch the bad guy and earn her pay more than catering to her fears. In this one she has to go against an entire town of unfriendly folks who refuse to sell her gas for her car and shun her. Despite this, and the police department and the sheriff too are suspiciously unhelpful, she uncovers two murders. Which makes her next on the murderer's list. Cool.

While I didn't find the central mystery in this one as compelling as previous installments, I still found myself enjoying it because I just enjoy whatever time I get to spend with Kinsey Millhone. I prefer it when she stays in Santa Teresa as I find her adventures out of town not quite as compelling or sensical. Regardless, I still enjoyed this one. Millhone continues to be a fascinating character.

Just finished this book this morning. She is always interesting but like most women tends to trust the wrong people at times. Darn her. I knew she shouldn't trust........I thoroughly enjoy these books and have loved reading them in order.
