The beginning was a little slow and I almost dnfed it but I persevered and I'm glad I did. I love the ending and the constant plot twists even onto the last 20 pages. I kinda felt that Bel and I didn't really connect but her and ash were the only ones making me giggle in all this chaos 🥺.
Maybe Holly can write a sequel to show them find each other again. I miss him already.
Or plot twist grandpa never had dementia and yordan knew all along and is working for him or Ramsey and Rachel actually know each other and she planned the documentary with him and she's been evil all along. Not that I want her to be but that would be a twist wouldn't it?

It felt like a movie unfolding before my eyes coupled with the rachel price playlists I was listening to haha. I think Family Line by Conan Gray is the perfect song to describe this book.

This was twisty - keep you up all night can't put it down kind of twisty. Still not sure how I feel about the ending though. Or the language - definitely keeping it from being 5 stars for me, but the story was good.

I really liked how this was written and it did made me feel curious and interested in the mystery of what happened to Rachel. When you think about what happened to Rachel, it did make sense except the part about the police not investigating their closed family business when they were suspecting Charlie. I don't know how far police work goes but if a person was suspected of murdering/kidnapping someone, they'd definitely go over a closed down, secluded place that their family owned.

I also kinda felt bad for Sherry. I understand Rachel's sentiments about her and to some level, Sherry did have some faults like illegally adopting a kid. However, I feel like she loved Carter enough to shut her mouth and just quietly be a mother to her. Idk, I might be wrong, but I feel like losing Jeff was punishment enough for her. Her and Rachel could've been like a mom duo. But I guess, Rachel's decisions were understandable because of what she went through.

I also felt as if Carter's actions were kind of out of character. Despite having the shock of finding out the truth about her identity and not having the best relationship with her parents, I don't know if she would've gotten over accidentally killing the man who she knew as her father her whole life. Idk, there's just no build up to her change, you know what I mean, it just all happened at once with her.

Regarding the disappearance of Charlie, Jeff, and Sherry, I don't think the police would've gotten over that so quickly. Why so sudden and right as Rachel came back? If they don't think Rachel did something to them, they would definitely wonder if THEY did something to Rachel and that's why they're running away. At the end of the day, it was a nice read, and maybe these thoughts are just because I missed some things. I'll read it again when I have the time.

An interesting concept, with many twists and turns and ultimately a very disappointing and unrealistic ending.

3 adults of the Price family disappear mysteriously weeks after Rachel Price reappears and it doesn't spark any need for investigation; and not only that, the film crew know more about what happened and decide not to reveal it or find out exact details, despite it costing them A LOT in potential revenue AND making them complicit in crimes? Seems unlikely!!

Somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4.

I love Holly Jackson. I devoured the GGGTM trilogy (and am firmly on the side that the third one was GENIUS, thank you very much) and have highly enjoyed her first standalone. The writing style and character voice in both standalones is very, VERY different from Good Girls Guide. I personally love the range, but know that it could be polarizing, especially since our MC is unreliable and kind of a jerk. I love an unlikable girl, and considering the trauma she's gone through, it makes sense.

I think the main things keeping this from being a five star read is that the ending feels convoluted. The story is trying to do so much and I think it needs to be doing a little bit less! Particularly with her cousin
Spoilerwho clearly has an ED and many family issues that felt like they were going somewhere but were barely addressed.
But overall, it's a really fun read still and I recommend for anyone who wants a quick thriller.
