I’d maybe give it 2.5, it was somewhat entertaining at times, but overall just bad writing, cringey dialogue, and a completely unrealistic plot and ending.

Leuke thriller en echt in 1 keer bijna uitgelezen, houdt je vast. Erna niet echt meer over nagedacht, maar het plot zat leuk in elkaar!

No spoilers for this thriller/mystery.
Picked this up because of the cool cover & creative sprayed edges (like a film scene clapboard & tape).
Thrillers aren't my go-to books since they're just not appealing to me & can generally make me feel weird or gross vibes sometimes.
But this was a good one! It was fun too because I didn't look at the blurb, know anything about it, nor that it was a thriller.
Hubby read a large portion of this to me. We accidentally stayed up till midnight on a weeknight once because of the exciting climax.
It's a nice change of pace from a disappointing love triangle sequel I'm currently reading, and it had both foreshadowed + surprising plot twists!
You think it'll stop at one plot twist but it kept going until the 2nd last chapter really. & yet they were all intertwined and relevant to each other so they didn't feel out of place.
I hated the main character for most of the book - she's obnoxious, arrogant & too easily pushes people away for barely a reason, but it at least serves the plot and leads up to something necessary. It also makes sense considering what she's gone through, but that doesn't mean I can't find it frustrating to read through her annoying POV.
I also think if she just relaxed for a second, maybe she would've been given the real answers sooner.
I like how I could flip back through earlier pages and see in hindsight why someone acted either suspiciously or differently - Many elements had a good callback, even if you didn't realise they were anything noteworthy at the time. Sometimes I did predict it & sometimes I didn't know which opinion to think because I had several plausible theories going.
This is kind of like Pretty Little Liars (lots of foreshadowing, crime to an individual, dragged out crime to solve/hide the base incident, suspicious of every character, relationships on fire, mostly detestable characters with few you hope will succeed, etc).
Except instead of at school, it's the family setting, film crew & case followers
& instead of a bad ending, it was a satisfying one.
Personally, I was just wishing Carter well.
Maybe I'll re-read this one day to catch all the foreshadowing & say 'OHHHH'.

This was an interesting story but I feel like it could have been like 6 hours shorter! Also I found the end so unrealistic - it’s crazy that the girls just snapped right into this new life so fast and were not like upset??
