Reading slump finally ended. Kinda hated the ending but overall it was fun and greater than the sum of its parts.

This was a little weird and underdeveloped. It was an intriguing mystery, but I didn’t really care for any of their characters. I found that when it came to their emotions and what they were thinking, the writing was relying heavily on exposition and TELLING me rather than SHOWING me. And not that I’m a legal expert by any means, but I really don’t think that the “reappearance” part was accurate, and neither were any of the character reactions. It just wasn’t believable. And the twist? Maybe too much? The climax was like 100 pages. Meh.

Oh my god. Just ... oh my god. That was so much. And my mind is forever blown. Holly jackson, you've truly outdone yourself. I will admit that I was skeptical after hearing the premise. I thought there wouldn't be much of a mystery due to her mother literally coming back very quickly. But d*mn was i wrong.
I loved the FMC Bel and her attitude. I found her funny, witty, and a bit saucy. (If it got a dollar for the amount of times she uses the word f*ck, id be rich. Or at least we'll off) And the DRAMA??? OH MY GOD THERE WAS SO MUCH, IT WAS LITERALL POURING OUT OF THE BOOK HOW MESSY IT WAS. and i ate that sh*t UP!!!Her abonment issues were her main flaw and it was interesting to see how she overcame it. Being forced to understand and accept the truth, having no other choice but to do so.
Ash was such a loveable character for me. I missed having a loving male sidekick. He was funny, quirky, and his sense of fashion was honestly made for me. (I know bel HATED his clothes, but I personally loved them all)(okay the pug shirt being the exception. It was ugly)
The things I loved about five survive was put into this and made 10 times better. I loved the premise of being more afriad of what's outside then within when it should be reversed. And she did just that again. In the beginning, we loved charlie and did not trust rachel at all. And by the end, im wishing charlie dead(⛰️🫸🏽🧗♂️💀) and loving Rachel. Being done so well
It was WILD to find out so much about this family and all their secrets. A true dysfunctional family. But even with their family falling apart, they built another. And found our that even though people leave, it's not the same as being left behind. The ones you love will always come back.
As a side note, why can't my girls just be with their mans in peace 😭😭😭😭
