Engrossing on audio and read by the author, who brought humor and vulnerability to some dark topics. It was interesting to hear how her struggles led her to a career she was passionate about, and how she pivoted later in life.

Very fascinating for the morbidly curious about the human horrors of every day deaths in New York City. And an inspiring read of Barbara's personal perseverance through life's trials. I feel like this book would pair well with Stiff by Mary Roach.

I want to meet Barbara Butcher and thank her. This was such an excellent read. I chose it because I’m a true crime fan who is quickly running out of TC audiobooks at my local library - and I’m so glad I did. Barbara is one of the most honest authors I have ever read, and her words were funny, encouraging, and refreshingly candid. My favorite part of this book came toward the end - Barbara’s account of working the 9/11 aftermath. I was a high school sophomore on 9/11 and Barbara’s account of the carnage and emotion of body ID during this national tragedy is the first I’ve read. It made me cry numerous times and made 9/11 more tangible for me to read her first-hand account. I loved it.

The author kept going on random tangents and a lot of the book felt like a big trauma dump
