I bought this believing it to be a book about growing up under the shadow of one of the English Languageā€™s greatest writers but it turns out to be so much more than that so inevitably put it off for fear of a twee misery-fest. Not overly sentimental, it tells the story of a new country while analysing the character of Plorn and his distant (both geographically and emotionally) father. Wonderful actually.
