This was my 16th book finished in 2024.

It's hard to rate a book that isn't aimed at my age, naturally. I had loads of these books when I was younger, but I'm unsure how many of them I actually read.

All I can say is, the author really hates teachers and fat women. Basically the only thing that was written about Mary II and Anne was how fat they were. Is that really the best the author can do?

Overall, I didn't learn that much, and the chronology of the era is all over the place. It was okay, but I'll stick to my actual restoration era history books.

I read this book straight after Terrifying Tudors and found that my main qualms with that book were ameliorated in this one. I did find it was a bit repetitive in some sections but this book was pretty fun; considering the Stuarts are seen as the 'dull' period between the crazy Tudor and Georgian eras by many, this book didn't feel dull itself.

I'm thoroughly enjoying rereading these Horrible Histories books that I haven’t read in over a decade! There is plenty of information included that you might not find in more 'traditional' history books.

The cartoons are brilliant and still make me giggle even after all these years and Terry Deary's writing is still as engaging as it was all those years ago.

Even if you're an adult historian you will still enjoy reading these, whether reading them for the first time or rediscovering them!
