not bad for a non writer. I loved the culinary throw ins. Some of the dialogue was poor, but the story was interesting.

Anthony Bourdain can be very descriptive, but this felt like a novel Anthony Bourdain would write. It’s like kitchen confidential had sex with A bad mafia movie.

Quick read.

Hilarious and wacky. NYC chefs and mobsters. Such a treat. I miss Anthony Bourdain and it was so comforting to know his voice well enough to feel like he was reading it to me.

I knew bourdain could write but had pretty low expectations for his fiction. Pleasantly surprised. Fast paced, entertaining and downright funny at times; especially when he goes into ridiculous detail about cooking or kitchen equipment.

I didn't dislike it at first but then I spent the whole book waiting for the plot to get more depth and it didn't really meet my expectations. Tommy was the only semi-likable character. The ending was supposed to be a surprise or a twist I think? But I didn't really care for it and it wasn't satisfying.

I must have watched too much of No Reservations. Throughout this book, it was like Bourdain telling me a story. It's his voice I hear, loud and clear. To me it was enjoyable. To others I'm not so sure.

Heard that this story will be made into a movie, but instead of being set in NY, it'll be in London. Dunno how I feel about that.
