I get that this story of survival is written for teenagers, who may find inspiration in the fortitude of the protagonist. But there wasn’t much here for me, a mature reader with an affinity for literary devices who definitely doesn’t want to read repeated passages about animal killing. I’ll say 2.5 ⭐️

Fun kid's book - wish I'd read it when I was younger though, would have enjoyed it more then.

I was a little disappointed by the ending of this. the parents?! just wth.

There isn’t much to say about this. I didn’t mind the writing style and it wasn’t a tedious read. But it’s a survival story that doesn’t stand out from the genre of survival stories. The only thing I found memorable was the pilot’s demise and Brian’s belated discovery of the food pack.
adventurous emotional tense

I was not a reader as a kid but this is one that I did actually read and enjoy in middle school. I wasn't sure how this would hold up all these years later but this is a quick, exciting and engaging read. It's amazing that I did not remember some of the themes to this book I only remembered the survival aspects. If you read it as a kid and want some nostalgia I say go for it! It's def written at a middle ish grade level but it's still a good time.

DNF’ed at 12%. Just the first few chapters were not hooking me in from the start and it was repeating itself over and over in the parts that I already read. I don’t recommend at all
