It could've been so much more, but... I died a little at the end.

Underwhelming ending, boring.

The title truly does fit the book. I found myself saying, ‘what the actual fuck just happened?’, at the end of every single chapter. A ridiculous plot line, hilariously and realistically incapable characters, and a lot of crude humor made for a book that was wildly entertaining, that had me hooked waiting for what happened next. Somehow so much happened, but at the end… nothing really happened? It’s a very confusing plot twist end, and I was curious how the situation was going to be wrapped up and it just.. wasn’t I guess? Regardless, I gave it this rating due to the entertainment aspect of the book, because this book was never supposed to teach you anything profound about life, it was meant to make you laugh at its absurdity, and it did just that.

Yeah what the hell did I just read?

The weirdest book in the series yet... which is saying a lot.

The third entry in the John and Dave quadrilogy. I liked this better than the first book but not as much as the second, previous book. Kudos to being able to tell a story as complicated and multi-faceted as this as well as he did.
it involves a shape-shifting monster that can also implant false memories into people's heads just by being in proximity to anyone. Making everyone an unreliable narrator constantly but still being able to follow the plot...or at least I think I did.
It gives off SCP vibes, if you know what that is, but without being anywhere near as serious as SCP. If you love this series I don't think this book does anything better or worse, all the tropes are there and the characters remain true to form. This felt like a weaker entry to me but not bad at all and I will keep reading to see what the next book has in store for John and Dave.

I love these stupid ass books so much.

This is the third book about David and John in the "John Dies at the End" series. They're dumb, irreverent horror-comedies filled with ennui, existential dread, and ass jokes. They're pretty much perfect and I'm glad there was another one written. I really like David Wong's writing on Cracked.com (he's one of the few authors I actually read every article from on that site). He's just hilarious to me and his books are no different, especially as a horror fan in general. They're definitely not for everyone, especially people who don't have a child-like sense of humor to laugh at a poop joke, but they never fail to make me smile.

Not quite as good as the first 2 but still really good. Much more introspective which was nice.
