It seems that Joe has been on the road a lot, or out of sorts. I appreciated things being a bit more homey.

C.J. Box just doesn’t miss! This was a thriller from start to finish. Someone is coming after Judge Hewitt, but you’ll never guess who it is. In addition, the cartel is out to avenge Abriella Guzman and Nate channels his outlaw background to save his wife and daughter.

A typical C.J. Box read. Joe Picket series book about finding about a grizzly attack. He is trying to solve one problem and is brought into another about a prominent judge, and his wife is wounded. It was a fast read and generally pretty good but I wanted a better read from it.

The subplot of the killer grizzlies played no part in the overall story. Box could have done us all a favor by having them devour Joe's mother-in-law from hell Missy.

Great as always. A lot going on in this one, with Nate going back off the grid, and local tragedy at the same time, made worse by in inept sheriff. Joe always seems to the the only one that can figure it all out! Surprise ending, so be ready!
