Originally DNFed this, but restarted it after enjoying ‘Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?’ (which also had a very slow start for me)…and I’m glad I did.

The hero could have very easily been very annoying, but I found her endearing and I cared what happened to her. I’m sad that I won’t hear more of her adventures.

The ‘twist’ could be seen a mile away, but still great how it all unfolded. The plot was wonderfully fanciful, and a brilliant entry-level spy caper.
(If you are looking for another classic Christie murder mystery, this is not it.)

The world-building was nicely detailed. But there is casual and ‘more subtle’ colonial racism sprinkled throughout, although less than I was expecting from a (British) novel of this era.

The audiobook, narrated by Emilia Fox, was very enjoyable.
