I wasn't really sure what to expect from Alicia and Chase. I felt like they both messed up a lot in previous books so I was interested to see how their relationship would work.

I like it ended up being a beautiful redemption story. They are both damaged and loathe themselves to some extent but they also want to be better. The book starts with both of our characters making mistakes. Chase's mistake is quite dire. And both end up in AA meetings and in recovery. I think this part was fantastic.

My main issues here came from Alicia. She lapsed in her recovery and lied about it. Chase ended up saving her there and she was ungrateful. Then when he messed up she was totally unforgiving and threw it in his face. She wanted people to forgive her mistakes but didn't extend the same courtesy. Her job is to be a social worker (her dream) but throughout the summer, Chase bonds with the kids more and better than she ever does. She is also super careless with his feelings. I don't know maybe this will be touched on later, but I found her to be frustrating and shallow.

I also didn't realize that this would be a two-part story. I was at the end of the book before I realized there wasn't going to be any resolution. I'm not sure if I missed that or what. I will be reading the next one though as I NEED to see what happens.
