My first read of 2025 was a doozy.

I remember really liking Madison Kate. I'm pretty sure Hades is going to blow her out of the water.

I can't remember what happened in Madison Kate because my brain disease leaves me with short term memory like a goldfish, so some of it was confusing. Like, am I supposed to know this or not? But I just went with it and figured enough out.

There's lots of sex, lots of suspense, lots of mystery. I like Hades, I like her 3 love interests. I'm super excited to see how this story unfolds and what happens.

The audio is again, fantastic. Lucas Webley and Noelle Bridges are phenomenal in this duet narration. I'm so happy to get to listen to them throughout the series.

I haven't read dark romance books in years and I wanted to try the thrill again, and moved by the many positive reviews this book has. But tbh, its not even good for reading p4rn scenes, which are like 3 I think, and not that well written.
The main character is a 23y/o mega rich self-made mafia boss (already funny) who's ready to kill anyone that goes against her. The overall world that the author created is unrealistic so the book should be taken as such, but it's impossible IMO to overcome the bad writing, the superficiality of the knowledge of anything that the author describes (the mafia environment, the supposed rich houses and locations and objects, he'll, even the s6x scenes). Also the overall cringe and so obvious plot developments, they make it seem like the soft p4rn books that my grandma use to buy at the newsstand were masterpieces. Surely will not delve into the saga

This is my least favorite of my Tate James journey this far. I didn’t really care for any of the romance arcs developing and was bored most of the time. I thought about DNFing but was hoping things would develop more like the previous series did. However, it just missed the mark for me.

I have been doing really good, just picking up whatever sounds good, and the second I saw the 7th Circle, I knew I needed to read it ASAP. I really loved seeing everything this first book was starting. Still, there were moments where I was confused or felt like I was missing something, and honestly, if I had read the Madison Kate series, it would've been answered. Technically, the series is barely connected due to being set in the same world. But since she's the first series in this interconnected universe, we would've gotten a better introduction to the world. I still haven't read that series yet, but I want to. I wanted to give some space to start fresh with Madison Kate and not feel like anything's being spoiled since we saw her and her guys in this book quite a bit.

Anyway, 7th Circle does start rough. I really loved meeting her in the bar and learning about her gang and the empire she's built. Still, she's feeling really down on herself due to Cass turning her down again, and that's how she meets Lucas. Lucas is like her fresh breath of air since he's new to town and not connected to her criminal empire in any way, and the two end up hooking up. Afterward, we meet Zed and see that there's something between these two friends, too, but neither has acted on it. He's her best friend, and second in command, so he's been around since they were both kids. Eventually, this will become a reverse harem, but in this first book, she's only with Lucas, and Mr. Lucas has some pretty big secrets of his own! Outside of the romance, we see the criminal organization starting to be attacked. We don't know who or why is doing all of this, but Hades and Zed can't believe the only answer that makes sense because that threat was handled a long time ago. But this is the first book in this series, and we are just starting to scratch the surface, and of course, it does end in a cliffhanger. I had to pick up the next book immediately because I needed to know what was happening!
