I have been feral for Lawson and Hallie's story since I finished book 4 last year. Catherine did not disappoint. She always keeps her readers on their toes. I loved every second of this book - it was the perfect amount of healing, angst, spice, and a little comedy thrown in. While Ashes of You does deal with heavy themes, it was by far my favorite book that I read in January.

Lawson is the oldest Hartley brother, a single dad of three adorable boys, and the police chief in Cedar Ridge. Hallie is still working to overcome her PTSD from a horrible ordeal 5 years ago and looking for a fresh start. Lawson happened to be the one who saved her when she escaped her kidnapper. These two reconnect when Lawson is interviewing candidates for a nanny and the spark between them is instant.

Hallie and Lawson were the perfect fit for one another. They were just what the other needed but didn't know it. I loved the interactions between Hallie and the boys. Seeing Lawson reconnect with his sons was so sweet. I also never knew how much I needed an FMC giving an MMC a nickname before now but it was *chef's kiss*.

Overall, I am so pleased with how this series ended. While I am sad to leave the Hartley family and Cedar Ridge behind, I believe we will see them again in Catherine's next book.

Thank you to Catherine Cowles for the e-ARC and ALC of Ashes of You!
