Harris/Mettler covers were great. Chiang covers were cartoonish and made me want to cry. Plotting was clear and easy to follow for someone (me) unfamiliar with the characters. And, thankfully, after reading too-many disastrous new 52 layouts lately that make reading an interactive puzzle (not in a good way) the layouts in this book were dynamic and interesting while still being clear and logical.

I have to say, I'm surprised. I haven't been a huge fan of a lot of Winick's recent DC work, I hate Max Lord and what he's become in the new DCU, but this JLI vs. Max Lord has a great central concept, a really good handle on all the characters and some great action and story set-pieces throughout the DCU.

Nice use of several characters and concepts I'm not generally a fan of, including the modernized Checkmate and Magog, and when you combine that with good writing and art on characters I *do* like, like Booster Gold, it makes for a pretty solid read. Looking forward to checking out volume two.

I liked this a lot better than the others I've been reading. It was a lot easier to follow and was really interesting. The art was great. I have to admit, I love Booster Gold, and this comic was a pretty amazing portrayal of him, imo.
