lmao ok so i read this because yesterday i watched the movie for the first time (i was sad and on a mermaid kick and thought it would make me feel better — it did). i fell in love with the movie and it was definitely a lot better than the book imo. normally adaptations take away but the movie added so much more? the characters were definitely more developed in the movie too and i was disappointed that the friendship element didn’t seem as strong. but for what it was the book was rly cute (it legit took me like 15 minutes to read haha) and i definitely feel like 10 year old me would have thought it was the was best thing ever ahahaha

It was good short read. I have seen parts of the movie, but the book was quite different. It was an interesting tale.

Lovely and quick to read coming of age tale, very very different from the movie.

Read it because I loved the film as a child and was thrilled to discover there was a book. This didn't let me down. I wish I had read it when I was 10. I would recommend this to children.
