Not sure....I was very attached to Lyra and Will and many of the characters but I just feel there were so many story lines introduced that were never properly finished or explained. Just felt like a lot of loose ends and a lot of unnecessary subplots.

this was a nostalgia reread for me. i was obsessed with these books in elementary school and read and reread them constantly.

i haven’t read them in a couple years so i decided to read them again to see if they hold up like i remember. i’ve also been in a major reading slump so i thought it would be a fun way to help.

sadly, i don’t think it holds up for me. i wasn’t having as much fun reading it as i used to. maybe i need to read volumes 2 and 3 to truly be able to judge it.
