This is a story of three ladies Erin King, Georgia St. Claire, and Brooke Davies, all of whom live in the posh Presidio Terrace neighborhood. Georgia is known as The Black Widow is preparing for her third wedding. Erin, a famed news anchor seems to have it all together married to a plastic surgeon but is actually totally falling apart. And last but not the least is the new neighbor Brooke, a trophy wife to tech tycoon, Jack Davies, who seems to be hiding something.

Told in three different POV’S The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives by Kristin Miller is a dark, entertaining wicked full of secrets and lies made even more interesting due to the unlikable characters . A fun, quick beach read !

I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

OH MAN! This book had me hooked from the first sentence until the end...HOWEVER, I did not like the ending one bit!

This is the story of Erin, Georgia and Brooke. The story includes husbands, lovers, neighbors, murders and police. It includes a couple of thrills and lots of mystery and intrigue. I did not see the ending coming.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine. This advanced readers copy is due to release on July 20, 2021.

Just from the cover alone, you know you're in for a scintillating, scandalous read. In this book, you meet up with three affluent, gorgeous women who live in the exclusive Presidio Terrace enclave in the Bay Area. You have a mystery writer new to the neighborhood, a reporter on the rise married to a plastic surgeon, and the "Black Widow" of the block who supposedly offed her two prior husbands, according to rumors. Now she's on number three, and the wedding's soon approaching. Will it go off without a hitch?

When I received this book, I was lured in by the cerulean blue cover and the mysterious woman. I was settling in for a latter-day "Dynasty" or even "Melrose Place" type of book, possibly Jackie Collins fare. While it starts out that you observe these wealthy women in their plush habitat, it course corrects and becomes a suspense novel. That was a little off-course, and maybe it's because of the title. It wasn't the book I thought it was going to be.

Other issues lurked within this book. Although you get ultimately three different perspectives, the characters sounded very similar, so I had to look more than once to remind myself who was narrating. Several plot holes litter the story, and I was surprised by the epilogue. Some things seemed to come out of left field. It almost seemed like the story changed right when I was settling in for some hijinks of the jet set. I was looking for more decadence, I suppose. And I didn't buy the "fast friends" bond that these seemingly competitive women create.

It was enjoyable enough, but maybe it's not marketed in the right direction. I expected a very different book than I received, but it kept me mildly interested.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group – Ballantine, Ballantine Books for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! It was a pleasure!

I wanted to read this as it sounded like an enjoyably beachy book set in one of the toniest parts of San Francisco where I live. It was nearly all of those things though not quite as enjoyable as I was hoping.

Brooke and her husband move into gated Presidio Terrace and, immediately, Broke gets involved in the lives of her neighbors, Erin and Georgia. Georgia is known as the Black Widow as her two very rich husbands both died in slightly suspicious circumstances - one an accident, the other a suicide - and she’s about to get married for the third time. Erin is a local news anchor who’s just stormed off her job and her marriage to a cosmetic surgeon is failing.

Georgia’s fiance disappears, just a few days before the wedding and the plot takes off from there. There are more abrupt swerves in it than on Lombard Street and the arrow in my credibility-o-meter was in the red zone pretty much for the whole book. There is some attempt at glossiness and brand name dropping (though the author should know that it’s Louboutins that have the red soles not Louis Vuittons) and a bit of authentic San Francisco scene setting, though not as much as I was hoping for,

The novel is narrated by Erin and Brooke with a top and tail from Georgia. I didn’t find the characters particularly distinctive or developed and the men are wholly one-dimensional. There are some tragic notes in all of their past and current lives but I found these to sit rather lumpily with the (presumably intentional) blackly comic tone of the plot.

I’m not sure why the author has decided to set the novel over such a short time period as it added to my stretched credulity about the rest of the novel. It seems highly unlikely that Brooke would view a house for sale on one day and then move into it the next. It also seems extraordinary, that amidst all the shenanigans going on, she has time to basically rewrite a novel in 3 days.
As far as I can see, setting it over 6 months wouldn’t have significantly changed the narrative but as I’m not an author I could well be wrong.

Thanks to Ballantine and Netgalley for the digital review copy

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives introduced you to three friends: Brooke, Georgia, and Erin. One is new to the neighborhood and writes mystery books, one is a rumored black widow, and the other is a famous news anchor and a strict rule follower. Each person intrigued me in their own way. Especially when it came down to their marriages.

Now this book definitely screamed Desperate Housewives to me. It also seemed like every person had their own dirty secrets. Which made it hard to figure out who to trust and who to not. I was definitely suspicious of every little thing throughout the book. Mostly because it just didn't seem like things happen coincidentally.

One would think once things started to slowly reveal that I would be less confused. Well, no, that didn't actually happen until I was almost at the end. All the action and twists in the second half of the book just kept messing with my head. Definitely in a good way because it kept the pages turning and I had no idea how it was all going to end.

In the end, this was definitely entertaining like the TV show I mentioned earlier. I also liked how everything tied up into a pretty bow within the last few chapters too. I'll definitely be on the lookout for another one of Kristin's books!

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is an over-the-top story of mystery and suspense populated with characters who could be plucked from nighttime soaps. It’s entertaining if you’re in the mood for that sort of read and has a few little twists.

The Sinful Lives of Trophy Wives is the quintessential summer read. I finished it about a day and has all the perfect elements of a character you love to hate, one you are intrigued by, mystery and suspense with some glamour thrown in. When Brooke moves into a new neighborhood, she becomes friends with her neighbors- Erin, the glamorous HOA president, and Brooke, the so-called Black Widow who has buried to husband at a young age. As Brooke gets an insight into their lives, will she be drawn into the web? Finding out was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon with this book. Perfect for summer/vacation. 3.5 stars
