An excellent read, if somewhat slow pacing and cumbersome from the size of it. If this wasn't 1200 pages I would have said this is a medium paced book, but even being a fast reader it felt like I was crawling through.

The book has many ideas, probably too many which bog it down some. But, the world building is intriguing, so if that's something you enjoy then that should be enough to carry through. There's a small cast of characters to follow, though it doesn't make it feel less the epic for it. Most of these are characters you feel invested in, though unfortunately the one woman POV you follow throughout the book is the weakest of them all and I found myself losing interest in her chapters.

The writing is passable, which is what I have come to expect from B-Sandy. However, if you read through this fast enough you might get sick of seeing the word 'grimace'.

It was very difficult to get thought all the new information at the beginning, but once you grasp it the book has your heart and won't give it back until it's changed. I love this book and this world. I am very grateful for having found it.
