Perfect read for a gloomy Sunday. Loved all three stories, the different characters and their challenges to overcome. Each story was told in such a way that I connected to each of them. When the book was over, it felt like it was just enough, not over or under done.

The Cliff House by RaeAnne Thayne is an engaging novel of family, love and healing.

Daisy Daveport McClure is a no-nonsense accountant who lives an orderly, controlled life.  Which is why she is so surprised when an adorable stray dog completely steals her heart.  And so does Gabe Ellison, the stranger who found the cute little dog. Is it possible that she is ready to open her heart to the possibility of love? Or is Daisy's complicated past going to prevent her from taking a risk on happiness?

Beatriz "Bea" Romero is the complete opposite of her older sister Daisy. Bea is spontaneous and open to new adventures but as a divorced mom, her life is bit more structured nowadays. She has a friendly relationship with her ex-husband, bad boy rocker Cruz, but she is stunned when he wants to get back together with her. Not only does she have nothing in common with her ex, but Bea has recently realized she is in love with her best friend, Shane Landry.  She  is finding it difficult to convince Cruz she has no interest in a reconciliation. Bea has finally worked up the courage to confess her feelings to Shane, but will he believe her?

Daisy and Bea's beloved aunt Stella raised them following their mother's death.  She is also a beloved teacher and foster mom who works tirelessly to raise money for her charity. Having put her life on hold for many years, Stella's secret dream is about to come to fruition.  With many changes coming her way, she is absolutely stunned when the love of her life, Dr. Ed Clayton, unexpectedly comes back into her life. Will Ed forgive Stella for abruptly ending their relationship all those years ago? Is it too late for the couple to reconcile?

RaeAnne Thayne's The Cliff House is an emotional novel of new beginnings and love. The storyline is compelling and the characters are well-rounded and quite likable. Daisy, Bea and Stella are at a crossroads in their lives but will the paths they choose bring them the happiness they so richly deserve?

This was an excellent story with three strong women characters. I loved the way Stella was reunited with her one true love. I loved the way Beatriz stood up to her annoying egotistical first husband to find some independence and then finally giving into her growing feelings. I loved the way Daisy the shyest and most reserved finally let herself go back to her true self and found her true love. It was a great love story for three members of a family. I also enjoyed the highlight of the need for foster families and how wonderful and rewarding it can be to become a foster family. It was an extremely enjoyable read!!!!

I am happy to report that RaeAnne Thayne is back! After her last few series entries which were intensely disappointing (thinly plotted, repetitive, half-hearted series continuations), she has delivered a lovely engaging stand-alone.

Set in a small town, Cape Sanctuary, on the Northern California coast, it is narrated by 4 principle characters: Sisters Daisy and Beatriz, their young Aunt Stella, and Gabe, a famous documentarian who took a knife in the gut saving Bea's rock star ex from a crazed stalker. Each has healing to do of one kind or another. Daisy, a CPA and financial advisor, hides behind structure, control, and order, terrified of giving her heart and trusting anyone. Bea is an artist and single mother struggling to both stand up to her ex and with stong emotions towards her best friend who does not seem to reciprocate. Stella is a teacher who has fostered many children including Daisy and Bea, but now wants to have a baby all her own. Gabe's own unconventional childhood and rolling stone lifestyle make it difficult to accept the string sense of homecoming he is feeling around Daisy and Cape Sancturary. And into the mix are thrown the mystery of the identity of the artist creating gorgeous whimsical painted furniture, a cute French bull dog named Louie, and Stella's long lost love.

Lots of healing happens here in Cape Santurary, with a few new trials and losses along the way before all reach their happy ever afters. This is a story of family and friendship, of healing, and of all the different loves that come into one's life.

My one serious criticism is that Thayne still, as in her recent series additions, too often repeats the same almost identical background summary sentence several times through the book. Here it was most evident in Stella's chapter, describing what happened with the love of her life. Both she and her editors need to be more alert to this crutch.

As always I love reading books by RaeAnne Thayne. It was an easy read and I enjoyed the second chance story theme. I jumped in and the story flew by. I would highly recommend to anyone who likes a sweet story. The story followed three different family members and their journey to find true lasting love. Aunt Stella has a second chance with Ed. They are a cute couple and so happy that they re-connected later in life. Beatrix needs to choose between her ex-husband Cruz (who wants a second chance) and her longtime friend Shane. Daisy meets Gabe who comes into her life for the first time. They go on a roller coaster ride but I love all of it. I hope that this is a first in a series as I would love to continue and see where they go in the future.

The Cliff House by RaeAnne Thayne was a beautiful story of three different women. Sisters Beatriz and Daisy, and their Aunt Stella, who is more like a young Mother to them after losing their own troubled Mom to a drug addiction many years before.

This was my first book by RaeAnne Thayne but I will be back for more! I loved how she told the three stories of these women and how their struggles and heartaches wove together so beautifully. I felt for each of these women as they experienced love and were held back by their different fears. The Cliff House was both a place of love and refuge to this family and I loved seeing their story unfold.

Living in Cape Sanctuary, the sisters never knew all the dreams that their Aunt Stella had sacrificed to ensure they had everything they’d ever need. Now as grown women themselves, it’s time for Stella to reveal the secret she’s been hiding that will change their family forever.
