The Cliff House was another stunning, emotionally-charged novel by RaeAnne Thayne in which she swept me away with our three heroines from the beginning, while they were on their arduous journey to find peace, love, and acceptance.

Part women’s fiction, part contemporary romance, but all heart, The Cliff House was everything I love about RaeAnne Thayne’s writing. (And look at that beautiful book cover! She has the most picturesque covers, I swear…) We met our three leading ladies at a turning point in their lives, with Stella, Daisy and Bea all facing some tough situations that would require soul-searching and inner strength. And I adored all of our heroines. Usually there’s a stand out character in any ensemble cast for me. Read More

This novel was a charming contemporary tale of life, love, and romance in a coastal setting with a strong focus on family ties, fostering, and taking risks. As always, Thayne provided a beautifully crafted novel that tugs on the heartstrings with descriptive passages and likeable characters. Elements of adversity, heartache, and stubbornness were perfectly balanced with an abundance of hope, discovery, and heartwarming healing.

A copy of this title was provided via NetGalley with thanks to Harlequin and Ms. Thayne. All thoughts expressed in this review are strictly my own opinion.

This was my first RaeAnne Thayne novel and I absolutely loved it! Thanks to Meagan's Book Club, I found this wonderful story & it was exactly what I needed right now. This has been the craziest month and this lovely, heartwarming story made me feel so good. The chapters switched POV between the two sisters, Bea & Daisy, the aunt, Stella, and funnily enough, one of the male characters, Gabe. It kept the story moving quickly and made me want to keep reading. The small town of Cape Sanctuary sounds lovely and it left me dreaming of the beach as I sat in the sunshine on my deck. I can't wait to go on vacation after all this COVID-19 is over!

This is a great read if you need to escape a little bit - mostly happy & with a little bit of drama and some heart-wrenching moments. I can't wait to read more from RaeAnne Thayne!

The Cliff House is perfect if you are looking for a book with sweet romance, sisterhood, and complex family dynamics. It also does a great job talking about foster care- with both positive and negative portrayals and discussions of the real need for good foster parents.

The story follows three women- two sisters and the aunt who raised them- at crossroads in their lives. Bea is a single mother, raising her daughter while her celebrity musician ex-husband tours the world with beautiful young women. When a near-death experience has him seeking reunification, Bea must decide whether to go back to him or admit her growing feelings for her best friend Shane.

Daisy is an uptight CPA with a secret who controls everything in her life after a traumatic experience as a child in foster care. When a free-spirited man comes into her life and discovers what she is hiding, she must decide whether to finally open up to love.

Stella is turning 40 and finally thinking about what she wants for herself. After taking in her nieces in her 20's, she spent years working as a teacher and providing foster care to older children. After months of fertility treatments, she discovers she is finally pregnant with a child of her own, when her first love shows up in town with his daughter.

This is a really sweet story about family, love, healing, and redemption. It does get a little melodramatic at times and there is some unnecessary internal conflict between characters who are failing to communicate well or listen to each other. Be aware that there are content warnings for
infidelity, references to child abuse and sexual assault, and miscarriage and I don't particularly like miscarriage as a plot twist in the way this was done.
I was sent this book for review from Little Bird Publicity. All opinions are my own.

This has been my favorite title from this author yet!! The Cliff House, while still very reminiscent of RaeAnne’s writing style was so very different than her Haven Point series. With a perfect blend of substance and fluff, her books are always a pleasure and The Cliff House definitely did not disappoint!

I'm very happy I got this heart warming and entertaining book.
I loved the style of writing, the fleshed out characters and how the author develops the plot and talk about feelings and emotions.
It was a very good reading experience and I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all opinions are mine.

I managed to make it all the way through this book, but more than once I teetered on the edge of DNFing it. The primary reason for this was because this book tried to do too much, and failed at all of them as a result.

There were too many characters vying for the coveted hero and heroine roles. Not one, not two, but THREE separate storylines all competed for the reader's attention, and ALL of them suffered for it. There was no development. There was no working through issues, because there was no time for any issues of consequence to occur. We were rushing from one character to the next and barely scraping the surface of what COULD have been three decent stories.

I also really, REALLY hated the fact that EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER came from some MAJOR dysfunctional past. EVERY ONE. Not just a little messed up pasts, but HUGE things. About halfway through I was just thinking PLEASE, make someone normal.

I also didn't appreciate all the coercion that happened, not to mention characters sharing very major life event secrets that were not theirs to share.

I think this book could have been 3 very good normal-length Harlequin romances, where we get to stop and smell the roses with each couple. Unfortunately, the need to smush them all together into one volume, and then throw every single dysfunctional past cliche into the mix ruined it for me.
