Note to self: Do not read anything A. Zavarelli again no matter what the blurb or recs say. You’re disappointed every time.

anytime a mafia man is shown as this ruthless, revenge-driven killer but as the story progresses he becomes a lowkey softie I'm like:

Santiago was a cruel yet still, an empathetic anti-hero. I liked how naturally drawn to Ivy he was and how Ivy saw through his pain and the physical reminders of it. I love arranged marriage as a trope, add in the enemies aspect and a gradual progression of both MC's caring for each other, fighting the hate & I'm a goner. But that ending tho... Yea I'm gonna need to see some groveling when Santi realizes Ivy didn't do shit but who are we kidding mafia men do NOT possess the word sorry in their vocab✨

WOW

I expected good things from this book. What I got was incredible.

The world of The Society is dark and secretive, steeped in tradition and blood. Everyone has an agenda and is treading on the hands of those lower than them to advance. In this world we meet Santiago and Ivy.

Their story is part Beauty and the Beast, part Phantom of the Opera, part Cinderella. They are determined to hate each other but are drawn to each other like moths to a flame. All we can tell so far is that there’s a deeper game being played that neither Santiago nor Ivy seem to know about it. I can’t wait to read more about this world and see how the players and pieces line up against each other. Super dark, super steamy - check your triggers and read responsibly.

I Like Mafia romance and when it gets a little bit darker.
But this somehow was over the top for me.
I don't like degrading her with a mark and for her to kiss his shoes and stuff like that but I quit when he started torturing her.
Nope I can't root for them and be invested in their romance because I only want her to get away from him.
