We love this book! Great message for the kids that there's no such thing as one colour for one thing.

Amusing enough if you don't mind bitchy art supplies, but, as far as I'm concerned, the author missed a perfectly good opportunity to introduce tykes to the concept of collective bargaining.

What a fun book! Great illustrations helped to tell the story of each color of crayon. Plus, it's new and it smelled of freshly printed paper. Oh my! The whole experience was an absolute delight.

From the overworked to the neglected, young Duncan's crayons are fed up. The crayons voice their grievances through hilarious letters to Duncan. Entertaining and sweet. Delightful art by Oliver Jeffers!

Yeah, I don't like this book. It's been in rotation recently at our house, and it annoys me for several reasons.

First, it's quite long and wordy. Not great for "let's wrap up bedtime, we're late".

Second, the jokes are very one note: more than one crayon is just writing in to say he's tired.

Third, it feels super retrograde. The pink crayon complains that Duncan, the unseen child these letters are addressed to, isn't using her/him/it because "you think I'm a girl's color, right?" I mean, my kid is a pretty blank slate, growing up in a hippie town, so why on earth am I telling them that hey btw some people think pink is for girls. I would much rather minimize that nonsense. There's a peach crayon who is embarrassed for being naked. AKA boys like blue, girls like pink, and peach is the color of skin. :/ This is so lame and boring, ugh. I cannot wait until my kid tires of this one.

This book was cute. It was a bit wordy, but when read with different voices, even held my 2 year old's attention. I felt like some of the complaint letters were geared toward an older audience. My kids cracked up while we read it, and I enjoyed the ending. My 2 year old has requested it again, which bears the mark of a good book in my opinion.

For all the hype I was expecting more. My kid wasn’t even intrigued by the cover, possibly too young.
