Um... What?

This book really shocked me with its ending. I... I think I'm speechless. While I didn't exactly vibe with the premise of the book nor did I understand most of the motives being enough to be what they were... But the ending made up for the book and I ended up liking it! I would give this a 3.75 but maybe for someone else it would be better.

lovedd agggtm, this one not as much. i still did like it, and read it in pretty much two sittings. i am also still a ravi and pip lover (together and each as their own characters - fabulous)!

however, the plot felt kinda bland, and only really picked up around the 85% mark. also i predicted the plot twist / who the villain was. i’m usually really bad at predictions and things, so every time i guess something correct i feel smart but also disappointed. that’s not really a fault of the book per se, just a personal reading experience.

however, i did reread book 1 with the intention to finish the whole series this time, and i like holly jackson’s writing enough to stick with that promise. heard mixed things about book 3 so we shall see!
