This was tragic, beautiful and sad.
Everything was so fast that is sometimes was hard to keep track of the timeline.
I liked the art style a lot.
The manga certainly does its job and let you smile dumbly, huff out off frustration and maybe even shed a tiny tear.
This was beautiful but so sad.

This was tender and beautiful and tragic.
I loved the art style.
I also really liked how Catholicism was explored.

There were some nice moments, but that’s all they were. They weren’t enough to give the story emotional ground.
You can’t give a character trauma and then decide that’s enough for them to feel real and believable. We get to see very little of the two leads getting to know each other or even any interactions that don’t directly move the plot forward. It felt like they were expected to get together so no actual development was put towards them, leaving every emotional moment to feel unearned. The plot is similarly flimsy, leaning on wild turns and narrative leaps to increase the tension ramping up to the
“bury your gays”
“ ending.

I was so surprised that this book is rated so highly with how poorly the story was executed. Just because something is sad and melodramatic does not mean that it earned that payoff. For me it was an upsetting read not because I felt emotionally attached, but because I felt these especially dark themes were just being used as a shortcut to a tragedy with no real respect given to them, at times grossly mishandling them.

A very good story exploring interesting themes and concepts, the end wasn’t unexpected, I had just hoped for a little more in the development of the main characters’ relationship. The art is stunning. Definitely worth a read.
