I first heard about this book on NPR and the excerpts I heard on the program were definitely worthwhile. I've recently delved into the world of poetry and I have to say that I'm impressed. Not only was the content of this particular book good, it was well written.

This book of poems is unapologetically black and I absolutely love it! I don't know if I've ever related to an author the way I did while reading this book, or if any thing I've read had ever resonated so deeply with me. That being said, I think this collection of poems does an excellent job of describing the multi-faceted nature of black culture while also highlighting the similar struggles we face as a community. I would recommend this book to everyone.
