I can't give a Bryant and May book anything less than four stars, but this wasn't my favorite of them. My attention wandered a bit in parts -- I don't know if that was the book's fault, or mine.

If you like quirky characters and situations, this series is for you. Elderly detectives with many quirks who work with an even more quirky staff. An enjoyable fun read.

Finished at bedtime last night and now I'm bereft - probably a year until volume 12 comes out in paperback!

A solid entry in the Bryant and May series.

A mystery begins in a cemetery, seven ravens are missing from the Tower of London--it's time to call in Arthur Bryant and John May and the rest of the Peculiar Crimes Unit. I love these books so much that I dole them out in an effort to make the series last longer. Christopher Fowler, I want you to have a personal life but I do hope that you have many more Bryant and May books in you. I'm coming to the most recent ones published and I'm feeling anxious.

Audiobook (All of my entries on The Story Graph are audiobooks.)
#11 in series (I started reading this series in November of 2017 and I have been committed to this series since June 2021.)
Comparison to others in series: Not as good About the same Better A great mix of humor, mystery and creepiness. There are more sorrows about being old as Bryant and May try to figure out who was digging up bodies and killing people. I figured one of the culprits out ahead of time, but I don't know if that makes me insightful or lucky.
The narrator was Tim Goodman. Lovely reading, as always.

Really a 4.5, but since I"m very stingy with my 5's (except for the occasional case of irrational personal fondness or nostalgia), this is one of the few cases where I'm more likely to round down than up. Definitely up with the rest, and reading about corpses (apparently) rising from their graves is perfect for this time of year. :)
