Another superb Bryant and May if you are not reading this series you need to. Great storytelling.

Often in a crime series, the author runs out of steam and starts reusing scenes and even paragraphs. Fortunately, not the Peculiar Crimes Unit. This is one of the better in the Bryant & May series. Fowler's wit improves with age.

Androgyny is in? Haha. It sort of reminds me of the twist in Agatha Christie's Mrs McGinty's Dead, except instead of just giving us a unisex name (Evelyn, I think it was), Christopher Fowler suggests 'female!' in subtle but visual ways. So we get the PCU chasing after a slim figure that might be female and a conversation with one of the victims that goes, 'You should never have tried to seduce me'. I confess that I got sold.
