This book delves into a state of inability to identify oneself when raised in several countries, parents and step parents of different countries and cultures, rejected and embraced by all. It touches upon a lot of issues like sexual assault, desertion, depression, racism and is quite gut wrenching and poignant. Some of the chapters feel very forced to align with appropriateness of today which are not validated in the author's personality from other chapters. A lot is repetitive and timelines confusing which could have benefitted from good editing. Overall enjoyed reading the book

Libby audio. An interesting book. Her background and upbringing/traveling while her dad worked for the UN was fascinating. Parts of the book were better than others.

4.5 stars. A stunning memoir! Nadia knows how to weave words together in a way that’ll have you feeling like you were present at every point, watching live from a distance.

I admire people who tell their stories however difficult with such rawness and honesty. You can tell she wrote this for herself. It’s almost like she needed some closure. (I can’t explain it but if you read it, you’ll understand)

Okay, I have to preface this by saying, this may have not been the right timing of this book for me. The style and pacing didn't work well for me . . . right now.

There was so much about it that was really fascinating! Owusu tells the story of growing up as a biracial woman in an international lifestyle, as her dad worked for the UN and they relocated often. She had ties in so many places. She had really relevant and thoughtful things to observe about those places.

She also has really valuable, thoughtful ideas about identity and family. There were so many thoughts that I found valuable, but I felt like I had to push myself through it. For content, I would give it 4 stars, for my own personal motivation I would give it 2 stars. So I am going with 3 stars.
