Obviously I understand these books are controversial and JK sickens me when she says trans women are not women... but equally I so admired the HP books that I started reading the Strike series to try to understand some of the controversy more

Now I haven't read any reviews of this yet - other than to say this book is problematic because the victim is a female cartoonist that is persecuted online which doesn't sound a million miles away from our author...

However, JK can spin a good yarn. I was compelled to read and enjoy this story for over 1200 pages. I wasn't even urging for the finish like I was in some of the other books in series that felt so long winded I didn't care if the main protagonists lived or died by the end, I just wanted her to get it over with and this one was longer!

I was fully invested in the story and had no idea until the end although felt slightly disappointed by our killer! I was also disappointed by the the will they-won't they ongoing story of Strike and Robin.

Now on to read a load of more insightful reviews that I will make me dislike what I have read!

forgot RG is JKR. the female characters felt insubstantial/stereotyped. the chat room transcripts really slowed it down. given the length and other reviewers comments about the disproportionate length to plot thought i'd leave it there. agree with another reviewer that it felt self-indulgent - in length - could definitely do with some stronger editing.
