Really heavy topics for being the first book, it was mainly context for whats next
Gotta love a book where nothing happens and only the final 1/10th is interesting. Absolutely would have DNFed if I wasn’t doing the audiobook while stuck in traffic.

This book was absolutely amazing. I read so many comments and reviews about this book, I almost didn’t read it. However, there were more good reviews than bad reviews and I took my chance. I am so glad I read this masterpiece. It is so beautifully written and the author makes you feel things that are uncomfortable and hateful. Which means she did her job. There were moments I wanted to throw my kindle at the wall and fight Midas. Read the book, and then read the second. and the third.

Omg why did I wait so long to start this series?!
Auren is Midas’s prized pet, or his Precious. We find that they met when she was younger, where he saved her. But Midas had a goal of marrying into the sixth kingdom to bring prosperity. Over the last ten years, Auren has lived in a gold cage. She is seen as the kings prized saddle and she is getting tired of it. As soon as she gets tired of it, Midas decides to forge alliance with the fifth kingdoms king, so they can overtake the King of Rot, king of the fourth kingdom. But as plans continue, unexpected decisions are made and Auren is questioning everything.
I loved this first book. I enjoyed seeing Auren’s thoughts and getting a decent back story into all the characters. I can’t wait to see how this series plays out.
