"I know what you are" well thats one way to end book 1, because now I wanna know too.
The book is easy to read and Auren is a character to say the least she has good energy and clearly she has her reason for choosing to seperate from the masses. (I might not agree with the folks she trust)
There is a hypersexuality to the book that makes me think it might be vital to the plot or just over kill. Such as royal harem being referred to as "saddles" and the overuse of the "c" word. It is almost like the author is using the hypersexuality and sexual violence as part of the world building to set the basic understanding of the world or in some way it ties into the plot in future books either way it is disappointing.
This is a King Midas retelling so greed is the over all theme, that the author does well because there is greed and gluttony everywhere.

Terrible. Such a basic plot not even done well. I genuinely regret giving money to this book which openly depicts scenes of SA. There felt like minimal progression and so truly disempowering to women.
