So I'm kinda surprised how much I enjoyed it. The spice was on point, I generally liked the plot, but there were some pretty big holes. I think more work could have been done on why he went into priesthood... his sister's story in and of itself wasn't a compelling enough reason for me without knowing more about his thought process. I liked how everything got wrapped up, even though the final drama is eyerollingly predictable. I'm not religious (but was raised Lutheran) so a lot of the religious references were lost on me but I got the gist anyway.

This book was not the best. I went into it hoping I could imagine “Hot Priest” from Fleabag but I couldn’t. Father Bell, from this book couldn’t be more far away from Hot Priest from Fleabag who was superior in every way. This Father Bell character was just Disappointing….

I personally wasn't into it. As a person who is not religious I found Father Bell to be absolutely ridiculous. As well as Poppy, so that’s why I found a lot of humor in this book where I don’t think there was meant to be any…. Oops. I found both characters to be really annoying and stupid and I disagreed with most of their decision making.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in some intense kinks like:

anal, BDSM, slut-shaming and being spoken to in a very degrading way, and revenge porn. Also I found the sex between the two characters was always very violent and so if you’re into that then this is for you.

I do not recommended this just to someone who found this on TikTok and just wants to read a 4-5 spicy pepper book. It’s not a realistic or healthy relationship and also it’s a bit too intense if you’re just starting out, but that’s just one gals opinion.

Although I didn't particularly enjoy it, I didn't dislike it enough to hate it. The more accurate description was I was able to tolerate it enough. There was little to no plot, and the characters were flat. In all honesty, their relationship appeared more lustful than loving. The smut was okay at first, but I eventually grew tired of it and skipped over those scenes about halfway through.

I only read this because it was book club #4's pick of the month. I know I could DNF it, but I wanted to finish it so I can join in the discussion.

This isn't my normal type of read, so I'm not sure how to review it. I think I'll go with bullets:

I would solidly put this in the "erotica" camp, not the romance. No judgment, just an FYI.
While not all of the sexually explicit scenes were my *taste,* I am sort of in awe at Simone's ability to write those scenes in a way that is at once completely absorbing and also educating. She realizes it's worth it to explain what's actually going on between the two characters, rather that just jumping into the action and letting readers draw their own conclusions.
I read this book because a friend of mine read it and said she found it "healing," given the purity culture she grew up in. I was also raised in toxic Christian purity culture, so that made me curious. And I know exactly what she meant. Even if I don't agree with all of the religious/theological conclusions in the book, it was SO incredibly healing to read a story where a religious person was struggling with sex, but never because it was "dirty" or "wrong."
The writing is actually quite good. I wish there was more to the scenes in between the sexual encounters, but I enjoyed Simone's writing style nonetheless.

Forgive me Father for I have sinned.

I will definitely be picking up more of Sierra Simone’s work after this. This was my first Sierra Simone read, but not the first book of hers I’ve seen highly recommended. Her writing was fantastic. She connected you to the characters and the story effortlessly. The pacing was great. Overall this was just a super quick, easy read. Full of smut and substance.

In Priest we follow Father Tyler Anselm Bell. A 29 year old Priest running a parish in Weston. The Priest before him was arrested and he has since taken over and grew his parish into what it is today. He is keenly aware of how hard he has worked to gain the trust of his parishioners after his predecessors discretions.

However Tyler Bell was not always destined to be a man of the cloth. He spent his younger years recklessly until a family tragedy steers him toward Priesthood, which he has since then become truly devoted to. He spends near every moment of his life dedicated to those in need of spiritual guidance. That is until he meets Poppy.

Poppy walks into the confessional booth one day and Father Bell’s world is flipped on its head. When she starts confessing her sexual sins and shows that she is not only comfortable with her carnal wants but she is also smart and well educated Father Bell is more than intrigued. The attraction between these two is undeniable and it grows rapidly. They begin an intimate relationship soon after and Tyler starts to question everything.

What will he choose? His Faith or Poppy?

This is more than just a smutty read. It tells a tale of a man searching for his calling in life, trying to find his true purpose. He is a true man of faith but he is a man with needs too.

As someone who was raised Protestant and not overly religious, the only issue I had was having to look up certain things that were mentioned because I had no idea what is was. Whilst that is of no fault of the authors it did keep taking me out of the story hence the 4 star rating but I am genuinely surprised at how much I loved this book.

This book was great - pure filth. Just what we all wanted! The forbidden love trope is always a good one and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this.

I’m not Catholic or religious so it didn’t offend me, but I felt it was oddly respectful to faith at times 😅 I didn’t find it overly blasphemous (even though it was) but I wonder if that’s because I’m not triggered by or bothered by blasphemy….

I thought Tyler’s inner conflict was really well done. And I’m assuming Jacob (or is it Jeremy?) will also get a book? What are the chances of two smoking hot priests?!
