Thoughts on A Wrinkle In Time:
I was convinced that I had read this as a kid, but now I'm almost positive I didn't as I recall pretty much nothing about it. That being said, I did enjoy it quite a bit. Although I had to remind myself that it was written in the early '60s and that's why the woman at the post office could be snarky about Mrs. Murry not getting any letters back from her husband. There were some questionable things, like the way the principal sort of teases Meg about her missing dad, but over all I thought it held up in spite of the passage of time. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Thoughts on A Wind at the Door:
It took me awhile to get through this one. It was a little...weird. It was kind of a departure from the first one, in my mind. Overall, it was okay. But the fact that they end up in Charles Wallace's mitochondria was odd and it felt somehow more preachy and religious (in spite of not really mentioning religion). I did very much enjoy the character of Prognoskes (or whatever his name was) and I liked the character arc for Mr. Jenkins - it definitely humanized him. But I didn't feel like this was as good as the first one.

Thoughts on A Swiftly Tilting Planet:
I really liked this one a lot. I liked the semi-historical pieces and I loved the glimpse into how Calvin's mother became the bitter old lady, as well as the way the little things can swing the balance between good and evil. Although it seems to me that it's a little bit too "your destiny is set in stone because if your ancestor is bad then you are bad", whereas I like to believe that isn't always the case. However, that didn't detract from the story.

This trilogy is very special to me because "A Wrinkle in Time" was the first "big girl" book I ever read. Thank goodness our librarian, Mrs. Walker, was cool enough to let a second-grader check it out! Everything about it blew my mind.

It's been years since I had read this trilogy and I remember why I love it so much re-reading it. The Barnes & Noble edition is gorgeously bound with a beautiful cover and the pages are lovely. I sped through this easily. I also understood a lot more than when I did when I was younger. I could see and appreciate the Christian themes I had overlooked, not overbearing but subtle enough to be appreciated it. One of my favorite trilogies ever.

I really do like this book, even though it often gives me minor frustration palpitations. This is a reread, so I'm not as objective as I would be coming to it for the first time.

The Meg/Calvin relationship in book one continues to drive me nuts because it is so completely out of nowhere, and the heavy-handed religious aspect continues to annoy me, but I knew what I was getting into the first time and don't want to make a big thing about it. It's still a light, fun, easy read, and I do still love the relationships among the family. I do still really enjoy Charles Wallace. So I'll give it that.

Three stars for all the old love I had for this book, and for the fact that I can still reread it with enjoyment even though I had to write an essay on it last month.

A very interesting book, I liked that it has same characters but different stories.

Reading these stories again after many, many years. I still love them and the messages of belief in oneself, love, care for the earth, family, exploration, faith and hope still resound.
