i wanted to like this book so bad… american psycho is one of my favorite books (and movies). i appreciate nods to the source of inspiration, but i felt it went overboard. so much so that it took me out of the story.

murders and executions quote- totally good. the sunlight hitting her copy of american psycho in an awakening type moment where scenes later she has her own version of that rat scene? no

maeve is so unbearable in a “i’m so different, i’m so niche” way. i’m sure this was done purposely since she’s a sociopath getting ready

for an unhinged murder spree

. nonetheless so annoying.

A twisted, gory and beautiful story. I absolutely loved this and flew through it. Definitely recommend if you like gory, reads.
