I'm surprised I didn't read this earlier or I was not required to in school. I absolutely loved this read, I haven't read Lois Lowry since middle school, but now I think I'd like to return to her books. Her world building and descriptions are perfect for a dystopian story. This was an easy read while still being meaningful and thought provoking.

The audiobook on Libby was only 5 hours, so this was a great weekend/day ready. Highly recommend to everyone.

This is just a really powerful and beautifully written story.

It’s a hard book to read, but it is—quite possibly—one of the most important.

Just too odd. Parts of it were boring, and other parts were predictable. It dragged a little in places, and it's definitely directed at children and you teens, so it's hard for someone older to enjoy it.

Reread this to discuss with my sister and nephew as we go through the series together. It still stands up as one of my favorite stories from childhood. The mystery of the community is just as compelling. I recalled how much I wanted to speed through the ending to find out what would happen and found myself doing that again this many years later.
