Oh man. I did not know what to expect going into this story, but it sucked me in and didn’t let go! I fell hard and fast for Roman. The depraved devotion he feels for Bella sinks into your soul, so as a reader, you too feel the depths of what he feels. The lengths he is willing to go to for the one and only person who has ever cared about him. This, to me, was a slow burn of epic proportions, but when they both gave in to the pull, there was straight up FIRE between them. It was intense, raw, full of passion and devotion, and the mouth on that man is Sinful. 😮‍💨 To have all of that fervency narrated by the incomparable JF Harding and Vivienne LaRue made for one of the BEST listening experiences I’ve had this year! (I’ve listened to A LOT of audiobooks, so that is saying something!!)

Nothing could have prepared Isa to find her childhood love covered in her foster family’s blood. He left her. He’s been gone for years, only to show up in the middle of the night, drenched in the blood of a family who has only ever tormented and tortured her. There may be relief, sure, but there is also anger and hurt. How dare he! He left her. But everything may not be as it seems. Roman, aka Mickey, would never forget his Bella. Ever. She won’t part from him ever again, by any circumstances. Everything he’s ever done has been for her, because of her. He just has to make her see that. No matter where she runs, he will always find her. Bella is it for Roman, but because he left her, she had to endure so much, and she isn’t one to just forgive him and move on. Bella has grown in ways she never realized she needed to in Roman’s absence. She won’t give that up for someone who up and left her.

This book was so good. I really don’t know how to put into words the emotional resonance of this story. I simultaneously have no words and too many words, to express how amazing Skin of a Sinner is. There is a lot of growth and many revelations made throughout the story. A lot of self realization that impacts every aspect of the story. Not to mention a vast list of trigger warnings and some sinfully delicious on page scenes that had me melting to the floor. However misguided Mickey may be, it was always, Always, with Bella’s best interest at heart. And by golly, that is a massive red flag in real life, but the greenest flag in this book. 😅

JF Harding and Vivienne LaRue were f**king INCREDIBLE. There was something so raw in this performance from each of them that leapt off the page and into your ears. Keeping you in a chokehold throughout the entire book. Each one evoked every feeling that the characters had, leaving the reader in awe. This was eleven hours and thirty-six minutes of sheer perfection. Harding has a way of eliciting the dark, tortured, obsessive, possessiveness of Mickey (though everything he voices is Pure Gold Standard), while also bringing out his vulnerability and downright love that he has for Bella. LaRue is just as wildly talented as Harding. She made Bella feel like a real person, brought forth every. single. emotion. that made me FEEL everything so hard. LaRue is one of the most talented narrators in the business. Hands down one of the best audiobooks out there.

I’ve been impatiently waiting for the Skin of a Sinner since it was announced lol so I FLEW to that sign up! I am so incredibly grateful to Avina St. Graves and Must Love Audio for allowing me to listen and review this book! It was so good (Not sure if I mentioned that yet 🤭)! Seriously, I can’t wait for everyone to hear this amazing audiobook! East House Productions, you hit this one out of the park! What a way to take a great book to the next freaking level!

🐭“There was a time I was willing to give him every fractured piece of my heart. I thought he loved every broken part of me. He said I was perfect. But Roman Riviera is a liar.”
🔪“You f***ed with my girl.” Roman chuckles darkly, glancing at me before saying, And you should never f*** with my girl.”
⛓️“No amount of blood spilled will ever be too much for you.” “When will it end?” He smirks. “When I’m in a grave, and even then, Hell won’t keep me from you.”
🐭“I can’t keep running to you to save me.” “You won’t need to run; I’ll already be there.”
🔪“If you can still speak while I f*** you, I don’t deserve to have you.”
⛓️“I’m a pessimist by trade but an optimist when it comes to her.”
🐭“You’re going to come on my fingers because I f***ing say you will.”
🔪“That’s fine, Princess. You can spend your life searching for a reason to hate me, but the truth is, you hate that you can’t live without me. And you know what? I would rather die knowing you wish I were dead than for you to feel nothing toward me at all.”

Isabella has got to be the most annoying character I’ve read in a very long time

4 ⭐ 3 🌶️ 5 🎧

This was an interesting read; it was dark and unhinged, but also kinda freaking sweet. And I'm not sure it was dark enough or sweet enough for me to truly lovvvvvveee it. However, I did really enjoy it, and I'm glad I finally picked it up, especially now that it's on audio because the narration was superb.

I loved the way Avina told this story. I thought the jumping around the timeline gave us a really unique look at Roman and Isabella's relationship and it had me falling for both of them rather quickly. Roman was fairly insane, but the way he loved Isa was pretty amazing. He truly would do anything for her.

As previously mentioned, JF Harding and Vivienne Larue were fantastic. They did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life and I loved this listen. A big thank you to Must Love Audio for this advanced listen!
