• April 2024: Did not finish
It is too hard to read only with the audiobook. I'm going to try next time reading at the same time the e-book + audiobook.

"Fist My Bump"

This book is probably going to be my top read of the year. I buddy read/listened to the audiobook of this book with my boyfriend and I think that definitely contributed to the memorability of the story.

If you're hesitant to read this because of the science talk, READ IT . I was afraid that I was going to feel dumb the whole way and be taken out of the story as I tried to figure out things, but the author does such a great job explaining the science and the technicalities while also not requiring the story to rely on that science to make sense. I was able to zone out the explanations and still understand the story itself which made it a really enjoyable experience.

The audiobook narrator did a fantastic job and I would strongly recommend listening to this on audio even if you're following along in the book.

if anyone can tell me where I can find a Rocky, please let me know. THX.

I loved this way more than I thought I would. Sometimes I don’t mesh well with Sci-Fi, especially as sometimes the genre makes me feel dumb - but this one did a good job at not doing that. I loved the characters a lot, and loved both point of views in the book. The characters really did it for me.

This book has a positively grating main character who is always doing "back-of-the-napkin math" and complaining to the reader about mixing metric units with imperial.

I know how to suspend my disbelief, but it was the parts of the story that took place on Earth's soil that I found the hardest to choke down. At one point,
Grace decides, in the middle of teaching his students, that he is responsible for saving the world, so he says "excuse me" to his students, walks out of his classroom and never comes back.

I think I would have liked this book if there was a coherent theme or any characters with sincere depth. Unfortunately for me, it is mostly just science and plot, which makes for a long book with not a lot in it.
