This book made me so sad. I cannot believe what Shelly did to her kids, Kathy and Ron, and what she had her husband, Dave, do to Shane, their nephew. I personally believe that Dave was also a victim. Yes, I do know that he could have said no, but with the way Shelly was it didn’t really seem easy to tell Shelly no.
I do not like that Shelly was being released in 2022 (which she is out now). She should have gotten so much more prison time. However, they couldn’t autopsy Kathy’s body because they burned it and Ron’s body was in such bad shape that they couldn’t determine what caused his death. Dave was the one who actually killed Shane.

The book was descriptive, these children and at risk adults were certainly living a nightmare. It is scary to think about the people in the world who are truly doing these things.

As for the book, it felt a little long winded and repetitive. I wouldn’t read it again but I’m glad I finished it.
